Dear fellow
Yudansha,
My life has been enriched by both the study and camaraderie of the
martial arts. We all share a great heritage in this wonderful gift we
have received. As the complexity of my life and my age have continued
to increase, I have found it more and more of a challenge to find my
way to the dojo and the longer I stay off the floor the harder it is
for me to get back to it. In all sincerity, a large number of my katas
are buried somewhere deep inside my brain, not lost but definitely
disconnected. I need to get them back and I have a feeling some of you
have experienced some of the same feelings; you miss the fellowship,
the conversations, the sharing of knowledge and just the feeling of
belonging to something that is so much bigger than us individually.
This is going to sound harsh, but I want this back and I think we can
help each other to get there. I have been speaking with Hanshi and have
proposed something called “Kata
Clinic”
that would be held every
Monday night from 5:30 – 6:30,
for the purpose of helping us all recapture some of the things we may
have lost. The objective is simple, a time for us to share knowledge. .
. one person. . . two. . . ten it doesn’t matter. We schedule
so many thing each day, doctors appointments, soccer games and a myriad
of other things too numerous to mention. We always find time for
everyone else. . . how about we take some time for ourselves? Please
come and join me, I need you. . . maybe we need each other! As we all
have learned. . . if we can conceive it, and truly believe it, we can
certainly achieve it. I hope to see you there!
In the spirit of the Martial Arts,
Kyoshi 8th Degree
